Bjork “Chrystalline”
When two strong and distinct artist personalities collaborate, I tend to hold my breath. It feels a bit like that day in chemistry lab when the teacher wasn’t looking and some kid, in the name of science, combined two agents that should not have been combined– the more fortunate of those young scientists kept their eyebrows. Luckily, in our case, Michel Gondry and Björk manage to each do their thing with no ancillary weirdness, Gondry employing his beloved dreamy stop-motion narration and Björk filling the space with her her usual enigmatic and alluring presence. If anything, the marriage creates a level of accessibility, an entry point for those unfamiliar with their work.
