We LOVE London. Smile for London was born from the desire to use the art of moving image to cheer up recession beaten Tube commuters and encourage Londoners to love their capital again.

With the same passion to bolster London’s spirits during difficult times, smile for london is launching Word in Motion (WiM) in response to the London youth riots. WiM gives young people growing up in urban areas the opportunity to see their poetry and voice animate across the screens on the Underground. Working with BAFTA winning film maker and anti gun and knife crime motivational speaker Mark One, the Smile team will be encouraging young people, via their youth networks, to write a 40 word piece of poetry that presents a personal inspiration that counters the expressions of frustration and neglect seen across the UK.

The films will be exhibited across the London Underground XTP screens for two weeks towards
the end of September to coincide with World Peace Day.
